Important note: The statements made in this paragraph about the cover provided by Flip insurance for accidental injuries and the amount of benefits payable relate to the Flip Active product dated 31 May 2023. That product was withdrawn and replaced with the new Flip Active product on 27 June 2023, which has a different scope of cover for accidental injuries. These statements do not describe the scope of cover under that new product. Please refer to the current Product Disclosure Statement for details of that cover.

Why injury insurance?

I’ve had health insurance in the past, but I stopped it since COVID because I decided it wasn’t worth it for me, and the whole process of buying insurance and claiming can take too long. Footy is a risky sport, but I just want to get out and enjoy it and not worry about what will happen if I get hurt. Although it is a very different product to health insurance, Flip still gives me peace of mind when I’m playing footy.

Purchasing Flip

I first saw Flip on a social media ad. It caught my eye, so I researched the social page and the Flip website. The website and the signup process were really simple. I read the terms and conditions in the Product Disclosure Statement, which sounds terrible, but it was actually straightforward and easy to understand. Nothing was hidden. I liked how easy the whole process was, from signing up to claiming.

Using Flip

I subscribe to Flip. It covers me for game days, training and even if I injure myself when I’m not even playing sports (if I’m doing another activity that Flip covers).

The Flip experience

How did your accident happen?

When I play footy, I play pretty aggressively. I turned Flip on for the first time before a footy game and got a soft-tissue injury to my chest. My GP told me to use some anti-inflammatory cream and get scans in a week. It got worse, so I went back to a specialist for a chest x-ray. My job is quite physical, so because of this injury and to get to these appointments, I had to take time off work, meaning my wallet took a hit too.

How was the claim process?

The claims process was easy. I just uploaded a medical certificate and some photos.

How did you use the money?

It’s sitting in my account as ‘Injury savings.’

What do you think of Flip?

It’s simple, easy insurance for many outdoor hobbies. Flip is worth it for me, and it supports what I like to do. My friends are all as active as me, so I referred Flip to them too!
